Used technique
PATIENT PREPARATION FOR BREATHING MEASUREMENT
· Important: the patient is not notified when the breath measurement technique is performed because the patient can influence the number of breaths and thus a modified result will be obtained.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
To measure breathing we need:
· Analog clock, wristwatch or stopwatch;
· Green / blue pen;
· Temperature sheet
· The patient's position is supine;
· It can also be performed while the patient is sleeping;
· The medical assistant places the palmar hand on the surface of the chest;
· Inspirations are measured for 1 minute;
· Another option is to measure for 30 seconds and multiply by 2;
· We can count the respiratory movements without applying the hand to the surface of the chest, only by observing the movements of the chest.
· Avoid measuring the infant's or child's breathing during crying
GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF BREATHING
· Graphically note the recorded value with a green dot (some authors mention the blue color for marking) placed directly on the horizontal line in the corresponding column for morning (D) or evening (S);
· Count one breath for each horizontal line in F. T. ;
· Obtain the breathing curve by joining the initial point with the other values of the measurements taken later;
· The breathing curve, the pulse curve, the temperature curve, have parallel graphic representations on the temperature sheet. This happens normally;
· The intersection of these curves represents indications related to the disturbance of vital functions.
