Placement of a pleural drain is performed urgently, which requires storing the necessary materials in one place, accessible and known by the entire medical team.

For local anesthesia:

- 20 and 50 ml syringes;

- needles for subcutaneous injections;

- intramuscular needles;

- ampoules of xylin 2%;

- a local anesthetic cream.

For asepsis:

- betadine solution;

- sterile compresses;

- razor;

- sterile field for the table;

- sterile field troné;

- renal tray;

- waste bin;

- container for needles;

- sterile gloves;

- sterile blouse;

- hood, mask.

To place the drain:

- scalpel;

- pleural drain (2, 10, 16, 18, 20, 22 G) according to the prescription;

- needles and sutures;

- adapted connection between the suction system and the drain;

- suction device;

- two bottles with sterile water of 500 ml, allowing the adjustment of the negative pressure;

- the vacuum device and the air tube.

For medical dressing:

- sterile compresses;

- romplast;

For surveillance:

- cardiac monitor;

- B.P. measuring device;

- pulse oximeter for measuring oxygen saturation.
