Oxygen therapy is a therapeutic intervention for the administration of a greater amount of oxygen than that in the atmosphere.

Indications:

- hypoxemia;

- respiratory and circulatory hypoxia;

- anemias;

- postoperative complications;

- severe infections, etc.

Manifestations of dependence related to insufficient oxygenation:

- fatigue, restlessness;

- shallow breathing (increased frequency);

- orthopnea;

- movements of the wings of the nose;

- cyanosis of the skin, lips and nails;

- headache, dizziness, drowsiness;

- confusion, aggression.
