NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE RESULTS

Indicative values:

·       6-9 years - between 100/65 mmHg - and 119/79 mmHg;

·       10-13 years - between 110/65mmHg - and 124/84 mmHg;

·       14-17 years - between 120/80 mmHg - and 134/89 mmHg;

·       Adult - between 120/80 mmHg - and 139/89 mmHg;

·       Over 139/89mmHG, ADULT = Hypertension;

·       Below 100/65 mmHG Hypertension;

·       Between minimum and maximum - Normal blood pressure

STAGES OF ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

·       Stage 1-130 – 139 mm Hg /80 – 89 mmHg

·       Stage 2 – over 140mmHg / over 90mm Hg

·       Stage 3 – over 180mm Hg / over 120 mmHg

BLOOD PRESSURE CHANGES

Changes to B.P. MAY APPEAR IN:

·       Emotions and stress;

·       Excess liquid volume;

·       Alteration of nutrition and health;

·       Activity intolerance;

·       Alteration of heart performance;

·       Various pathologies;

·       Difference less than 25 mmHg between systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Causes include aortic stenosis, congestive heart failure, and cardiac tamponade.

·       More than 100 mmHg difference between systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Causes include aortic regurgitation and aortic dissection.

·       The difference between arms; a greater than 20 mmHg difference in blood pressure between each arm is abnormal and may suggest aortic dissection.

PATIENT EDUCATION

·       Advise patients to periodically measure their blood pressure at home;

·       Explain the ways to measure blood pressure (using digital equipment) and instruct them in this regard;

·       Teach patients with high blood pressure to reduce salt intake, maintain body weight within certain limits, and eliminate stress or strong emotions by managing them with the help of relaxation techniques;
