THE SEQUENCES OF BASIC LIFE SUPPORT APPLICATION

Ø  Primary assessment

Ø  Ensuring the freedom of the airways

Ø  External chest compressions (ECC)

Ø  Artificial ventilation with expired air from the rescuer's lungs

PRIMARY ASSESSMENT

It must last a maximum of 30 seconds and includes:

Ø  The safety of the victim and the rescuer - the victim will be removed from the dangerous environment as quickly as possible to prevent new injuries.

Ø  Assessment of the state of consciousness - the victim's state of consciousness is checked by gently shaking him by the shoulders and asking him a simple question out loud: "Did something happen?".

After this summary assessment we can determine if the victim is unconscious or responds verbally or through movements.

IF THE VICTIM RESPONDS VERBALLY OR BY MOVEMENT:

Ø  It is left in the position in which it was found (safely), the condition of the victim is assessed and if necessary, help is requested.

Ø  The rescuer periodically reassesses the victim.

IF THE VICTIM DOESN'T RESPOND

Ø  Call for help

Ø  Place the victim in supine position and clear his airways

Ø  Check breathing

AIRWAYS CLEARANCE

Ø  Hyperexten

sion of the head and lifting of the mandible (by placing the left palm on the victim's forehead, a movement of head extension is printed, lifting the chin at the same time with two fingers of the right hand placed on the chin)

Ø  Manual removal of foreign bodies from the oral cavity.

If cervical spine injury is suspected:

Ø  Subluxation of the mandible

The subluxation of the mandible is done simultaneously with the maintenance of the cervical spine in the axis as follows:

- with the last 4 fingers of the hands applied to the angle of the mandible and the shelves on the chin, the mandible is pulled forward

- propulsion of the mandible frees the glottic orifice.
